Press Conference to request the halt of actions of biased and misleading claims regarding Shinchonji

Shinchonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony (Shinchonji) produced 15,000 students within six months, making the religious circle in Korea nervous. They held an official press conference asking to stop the biased and misleading reporting about Shinchonji.

The press conference was held May 31st, between 12 PM and 2 PM on 19th floor of Press Center in Jung Gu, Seoul. It was hosted by Shinchonji and the Commission of Elders’ Mission.

The host criticized and made a public statement refuting the slanderous broadcast about Shinchonji and the lopsided opinions of the religious circles and media, referring back to MBC PD Notes incident of 2007.

And also the conference proceeded with a press interview rebutting ‘Shinchonji slander press conference” hosted by Media Group of Korean Churches at the Seoul Press Center in the morning of the same day.

Shinchonji extensively disclosed the wickedness of the Korean religious circle and press that slandered Shinchonji.

These Korean religious circles and pastors are indeed unethical organizations ignoring the laws and rules of the nation

Hyun Wook Chae, a manager of general affairs of Shinchonji that held the press conference, revealed that Korean pastors kidnapped hundreds of Shinchonji members forcefully and violated human rights through “forcefully converted education”. Those Korean pastors were the ones who insisted Shinchonji is a cult and informed false report to MBC PD Notes.

Mr. Chae stated it is a pitiful situation that the religious circle and society still believe the one-sided opinions against Shinchonji and that they continue to slander SCJ despite the prosecution and police finding Shinchonji faultless even after MBC PD Notes aired.

Also he emphasized that “Korean believers are not stupid. If there is a legitimate and threatening problem in Shinchonji, do you think there are so many people are coming to Shinchonji? People come to Shinchonji because they have verified the Word of Shinchonji to be the Truth.”
