In each era of the Bible, God's kingdom has been divided into twelve tribes.
In the time of the Old Testament, Jacob (who received the name Israel),
became the father of the twleve tribes of Israel.

The twelve tribes also appear in the Book of Revelation.
Revelation 7 shows the people belonging to the twelve tribes being wealed with the word of God.
These twelve tribes have now been established, and bear the names of Jesus' disciples,
as well as the names of the twelve tribes of the Old Testament.
